Habit #1: Eat Until Hunger is Gone (Every 2 – 4 Hours)

On the authority of Al-Miqdaam ibn Maadiy-Karib, who said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah saying, No human ever filled a vessel worse than the stomach. Sufficient for any son of Adam are some morsels to keep his back straight. But if it must be, then one third for his food, one third for his drink and one third for his breath.‘”

If there’s any place to begin establishing healthy eating habits, it’s with the recommendation of this mostly unpracticed sunnah (at least, in the West) of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam.The basic gist here is that you should never eat and drink until you’re full – there should always be room, not just for jell-o, but for air.

For the next two weeks, you will practice this habit at each meal and will track whether your compliance. If at any meal you were not compliant, then you’ll be considered non-compliant for the day.  The habit is explained further below.
